The 3rd Review and Monitoring cum Mentoring Meeting of the NER BLiSS schools was held in Guwahati on 29th and 30th of November, 2017. The Meeting was organized by Handique Girls’ College, Guwahati, which has a DBT-funded Advanced Level Biotech Hub, and 82 of the 88 schools under the NER-BLiSS schools Programme were represented in the Meeting. The Meeting was attended by the Adviser, DBT, Dr. T. Madhan Mohan and a team from NER-BPMC, which included Mr. Vinod Kumar and Ms. Krishnakshi Bhuyan. The Expert Committee for the Review Meeting had as its members Dr. B. Ravindran, Dr. Pawan Sharma, Dr. Probodh Borah and Dr. M.C. Arunan.
During the two days of the meeting, there were in all, 6 technical sessions where the schools under the BLiSS Programme presented their Annual Reports. The Review Committee members after hearing the presentations made their suggestions for course correction and further improvements by the BLiSS schools. The meeting also discussed the problems faced by the schools in implementing the programme and sought ways to address these problems.
The inaugural session held on the 29th of November, 2017 was graced by the Honourable Minister for Science and Technology, Assam, Sri Keshab Mahanta who was present as the Chief Guest. The other dignitaries present included Prof. Bhabesh Chandra Goswami, Vice Chancellor, Cotton University, Guwahati, Sri Phanindra Jidung, Director of Secondary Education, Assam and Mr. Xavier Longmei, Assistant Director, Education, Government of Manipur. The inaugural session was presided over by Professor Nani Gopal Mahanta, the President of the Management Committee of Handique Girls’ College. The Keynote address was delivered by Dr. T. Madhan Mohan and the compilation of Progress Reports received from the BLiSS schools was released by the Chief Guest.
The meeting concluded with a valedictory session.
