Scoping Report on Anti-Microbial Resistance in India

Minister of State for Ministry of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, India Shri Y. S. Chowdary, UK Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation Jo Johnson, Prof. K. VijayRaghavan, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Sir Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, President of the Royal Society and Sir Dominic Asquith KCMG, High Commissioner of UK in India released the “Scoping Report on Anti-microbial Resistance in India”. It was released at the Newton Prize function held at National Science Centre, New Delhi at 19.00 hrs on 1/11/2017.

The report which was jointly commissioned by Department of Biotechnology, India and RCUK identifies gaps in understanding in AMR. It identifies new challenges for collaborative multi-disciplinary research partnerships in the areas of waste from pharmaceutical industry, farming practises, usage of antibiotics and discovery of new antibiotics/molecules.
