After the success of the first edition of Nobel Prize Series – India held in Gujarat last year, the second edition will kick off on February 1, 2018 in Panaji, Goa. The event is jointly organized by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, India along with the Government of Goa and Nobel Media AB.
The second edition of the Nobel Prize Series – India 2018 will be held at Panaji, Goa in partnership with Government of Goa on February 1-2, 2018. It will start on February 1, 2018 with the formal inauguration of the Nobel Prize Series – India 2018, Science Exhibition by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar, followed by an interactive round table “What Industry can do for scientists and scientists for Industry – and why” with the Nobel Laureates, industry heads, educationists, scientists and government officials.
This year will also feature, Ek Pradarshini – The Best of Indian Science, a creative showcase of some of the best scientists, past and present, from the diverse field of science and engineering, India has produced. The exhibition will showcase their contributions which have added to the global knowledgebase of science and helped advance their respective fields immensely.
Earlier on November 3, 2017 an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Prof. K. VijayRaghavan, Secretary, DBT, Govt. of India, Mr. Mattias Fyrenius, CEO, Nobel Media AB, Sweden and Mr. Daulat A. Hawaldar, Secretary, Science and Technology, Government of Goa, in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa Mr. Manohar Parrikar.
Following on the success of the first, the second edition will be held on 1st and 2nd February 2018 and will also host a combination of lectures, conferences, exhibitions, roundtables and other meeting spaces, providing a unique opportunity for students, researchers and the common man to interact with Nobel laureates and eminent scientists from India and abroad. The Nobel Prize Series aims to stimulate creative thinking among the attendees by bringing together Nobel Laureates, other experts and lifelong learners

It may be recalled that on September 1st, 2016 Government of India and Nobel Media AB, Sweden had signed a MoU to conduct the Nobel Prize Series for the next five years. 2017 saw the first edition of the series, which was held as a part of Vibrant Gujarat held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, saw participation from an enormous student and researcher community from the country.
