Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India announced four research projects under the Indo Australia Biotechnology Fund. The collaborative projects will be funded by the Indian Government to support the Indian partners with the Australian Government supporting the Australian counter parts in these joint projects.
The overall objective of the Indo-Australian Biotechnology Fund is to develop and support collaborative research activities which draw upon strengths in India and Australia. The fund supports Indian and Australian scientists to collaborate in cutting edge areas of science and technology. Ten rounds have been announced till date. So far 54 projects and 10 workshops over 9 rounds have been supported in the areas of Healthcare, Agriculture and Bioenergy. On the occasion of completing 10 years of successful collaboration, 10th anniversary booklet was released by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Australia and Hon’ble Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, India on 10th April,2017. Call for Round Ten was successfully advertised and was open in areas of Disease control and Medical technologies. The 4 projects targeting to improve healthcare were selected through mutual consent between the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India and Department of Industry, Innovation and Science (DIIS), Govt. of Australia.
