INDIA INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FESTIVAL – 2016 TO BE HELD FROM
7th – 11th December, 2016 at CSIR- NPL, New Delhi
The IISF is an integral part of India’s long term vision in developing the ethos of innovation and widening the spectrum of scientific temper in India and Abroad. The Department of Biotechnology, M/o S&T is jointly organizing the India International Science Festival 2016 (IISF 2016) at New Delhi during 7-11th December, 2016.
The prime objective of the Science Festival is to expose the fruits of Science & Technology to the masses, building strategy to install scientific temper among people with an aim to provide a platform to young Indian Scientists across the globe for the exchange of knowledge and ideas.
The aim IISF 2016 is to support and popularize flagship programs like “Swatch Bharat Abhiyan”, “Make in India”, “Digital India”, Smart Villages, Smart Cities, Namami Ganga, Unnath Bharat Abhiyan etc initiated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. Some of the major event includes are Young Scientists Conference; Mega Science, Techno and Industry Expo; International Science Film Festival; Science Experiments Demo etc.
Another component of IISF-2016 is an expo which will showcase the achievements of renowned Scientific and Industrial Organizations of the Country. Science communication by effective media interception would also be organized by science documentaries, films, Laser show etc. expected to make IISF – 2016.
IISF-2016 will facilitate interaction between the Industry and Scientists, leading towards developing scientific temper among students & young scientists.
The first India International Science Festival (IISF -2015) was held at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) -Delhi campus. The IISF is expected to be the country’s biggest ever Technology and Industrial Expo. The five day festival (from 7th to 11th December) will showcase the achievements of Indian scientists and institutions. IISF – 2016 will provide a single platform to explore ways for innovation, ideas and knowledge, translating academic research into industrial applications benefiting the youth and common man especially school children. The festival will provide common platform for scientists to interact with each other through this mass event in which more than 3,000 students are going to conduct an experiment at the same venue. The theme base pavilion will highlight and showcase the achievement and success stories of Science including the field of Biotechnology and related areas.
