On the occasion of Technology Day on 11th May, 2018 DBT has granted three awards under the ‘Biotechnology Social Development Award’ to the dedicated organization and the individuals who have greatly contributed for the socio-economic upliftment of the community by delivering the essential needs to the rural community at large in agriculture, healthcare and hygiene.. The awardees with their dedicated efforts have generated avenues for livelihoods through the empowerment of people through skilled based training and demonstration activities and entrepreneurial skill development. M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) was recognized for the pioneering work in creating livelihood options for rural and coastal community.
Dr. P. P. Chakrabarti was recognized for the pioneering work in creating livelihood options for coastal rural community in aqua culture and fisheries development in West Bengal and North Eastern Region
Ms. Sangeet Kulkarni was recognized for the pioneering work in creation of avenues for sustainable agriculture development and popularization of Biotechnology in schools.
Each Awardee was felicitated with cash money of Rs. 5.00 Lakhs alongwith a citation and a trophy.
